Mourning After Dark

In the still of night, grief finds its voice. Here, every shadow is met with understanding, and every tear is honored

"The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid?"
                                                                                         -Psalm 27:1

About Us

Morning After Dark (MAD) was created in the wake of unimaginable loss. After losing my husband to suicide, my world- and the world of our family- was shattered. He served nearly 20 years in the military, dedicating his life to service, strength and sacrifice. I am also a military veteran, and through both my service and my loss, I have seen firsthand how deeply mental illness- especially among veterans- goes unseen, unheard, and unsupported.

This space was born from grief, but also from refusal. Refusal to stay silent. Refusal to let his story, our story, be reduced to statistics or stigma. Refusal to allow judgement, blame, or criticism to drown out the truth and compassion.

Mourning After Dark exists to offer support, community, resources, and shared experiences for those walking through the darkest seasons of life. Whether you are grieving, struggling with mental health, loving someone who is, or simply searching for understanding- you belong here.

This is a safe, judgement-free space. A place to be honest. A place to feel seen. A place where voices matter, stories are honored, and no one has to mourn alone.

You are not weak for being here.

You are not wrong for hurting.

And you are not alone.
